Tampa Bay Hurricane Expo, Tampa Homeowners Prepare

tampa real estate agentWe have talked about the joy of living in Tampa on my previous post. Much of the enjoyment of living in the Tampa Bay area is having sunny days for much of the year. However, we do have some bad weather from time to time and is mostly during our hurricane season. It usually starts near June and end all the way til end of November. Now that doesn’t sound like all-year great weather now. Nevertheless, Tampa homeowners need to be prepared at all times just in case during those months.

Whether you are a homeowner near the beach or a Tampa homeowner inland, everyone should take the precautionary steps.  The City of Tampa and Hillsborough County are pleased to announce the 2008 Tampa Bay Hurricane Expo will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI). The Expo is intended to help educate our residents on the importance of knowing their evacuation zone and making an effective plan in the event of a hurricane. The Expo will be a free, family-friendly event.

The 2008 Expo is a one-stop-shop to get you prepared for hurricane season. Talk to local and national emergency managers, meet with emergency management representatives with the City of Tampa, Hillsborough County and other storm safety organizations, and get your official hurricane guide and other hurricane preparedness information to help get you, your family and your pets ready for a possible storm evacuation.

florida hurricane seasonAdmission to the Tampa Bay Hurricane Expo is free, however, guests will be able to enjoy MOSI exhibit galleries and one standard IMAX Dome Theatre film for only $8 per person (children under 2 admitted free).

New this year, the Tampa Bay Hurricane Expo will educate residents on the importance of knowing their evacuation zone and making an effective plan in the event of an emergency. Held inside MOSI, the expo will feature over 50 vendors, educational seminars in both English and Spanish, live entertainment, emergency vehicles, giveaways (while supplies last) and much more.

With your discounted admission to MOSI, you can walk through Disasterville, which features facsinating exhibits on floods, hail, lightning, volcanoes and tsunamis, including immersion theatres that demonstrate what it’s like to experience a hurricane, tornado, wildfire and earthquake. The exhibition uncovers the science behind natural disasters and allows guests to explore the role of a weather reporter, emergency manager, scientist and producer through an interactive newsroom complete with a real-life news desk and meteorologist green screen.
